Housing Workshop

On Saturday 12th March, 2016 a Workshop entitled Housing in Fowey was held during which shaping the future planning in Fowey was discussed and debated.  It was attended by an enthusiastic group of people who had varying visions of Fowey but who had one shared worry which was over-development.  Our thanks to Royal Fowey Yacht Club for the use of one of their meeting rooms and the facilities, including a very enjoyable lunch.

Have Your Say Exhibition

The Have Your Say Exhibition held on the 15th October, 2015, was another successful event in the Fowey Parish Neighbourhood Plan process, drawing in around 100 interested inhabitants of Fowey.

The Exhibition coincided with the delivery of the Fowey Parish Neighbourhood Plan Questionnaire, which can also be completed on line, (see the Home Page) and was another chance for locals to give their opinions on how they would like to see Fowey develop over the next 20 years.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was the visit by pupils from Fowey Academy who had been in Year 6 at Fowey Primary School when Mayor Ruth Finlay had asked them "What makes Fowey Special?"  With the help of local artist Heather Hunt their ideas were turned into tiles to form a mosaic which can be seen in one of the photos in the Gallery.

Our thanks again to Helen Luther and Marcus Lewis for display material - the pictures of "old" Fowey delighted young and old alike.  Thanks also must go to the Toll Bar for yet more mouth watering cakes and particularly the two ladies, names unknown, who valiantly served the free refreshments.

A Fantastic Start for our Neighbourhood Plan

At 2pm on Saturday the 7th of February, the doors were opened on Fowey Town Hall marking the start of the creation of the Neighbourhood Plan.

The exhibition was an opportunity for the residents of Fowey Parish to begin to engage in the plan process and identify the direction they want to see the towns future go in. On display were stands explaining the geographic coverage of the plan, the reason a plan is required, as well as some fabulous photos of Fowey past and present courtesy of Marcus Lewis and Helen Luther.

Thanks also goes to the team at the Toll Bar for providing fantastic cakes and volunteers from the WI for turning out on what was a cold day and providing teas and coffee.

The steering committee were on hand to discuss the plan and were delighted to meet over 70 people who came along to take part in the event. The feedback gained is available on this website.
